Preserving this here now - from a Google+ moment in time, and beyond. Musical notes and comments follow. (From G+)
I suppose this "music tape" remains a secret. It is from 1984, with my photographs and recordings of music I heard in Turkey, both in Istanbul and in coastal cities to the south, and on a boat between Greece and Turkey, with happy music and dance. These are my favorite sounds and sights of Turkey in late 20th century.
Please note: This begins with some popular "western" music of the 1980's here, from radio in Istanbul and discos by the seaside - at Kus-tur, Kusadasi, & the small cafes near Kismet. There is some wonderful "traditional" music too, which people danced to on a small boat on the Aegean. Love songs and ballads too. Some are recordings from radio ("walkman") in my hotel room - both European and domestic music, edited down to fit a 46-minute "audiotape". Rarely heard.
So here is some traditional Turkish/Eastern music and popular "rock" music too. The "tape" was made over a period of 25 years, finally taken from "tape" to digital.
Wonderful memories for me, and maybe you. Old and older. And newer. Some of my favorite Turkish music, from ancient melodies to Barış Manço. All. Listen!
